World Series Game 7 Attracts Over 50 Million Viewers Across the US, Canada and Japanese Markets.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total 51M spectators across the United States, Canada, and Japan markets. MLB announced this marks the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the previous week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase compared to the last finale between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in eighth, and Game 3 finished in 13th place.

Global Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game drew 11.6 million watchers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This made it the most-watched English broadcast in the country after the 2010 edition Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game started at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million viewers. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto gave up one run in six innings – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Overall Totals and Trends

The full seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million audience members on Fox, a two percent rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete American average was 16.1M. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels averaged 8.09M viewers, an eight percent increase over last year and the network’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four media partners in 16 different tongues.
